Building Community
At the Central
Oregon Environmental Center, we believe in community. Our
programs educate and engage students, businesses, residents and
everyone in between! We offer internships and
volunteer opportunities within a network of almost forty member
organizations and also award a minimum of $2500 from the
proceeds of the SolAire Salmon Run to local nonprofits and
schools for river and stream ecology, education and restoration
projects in the tri-county area. If you are looking
to get involved in central Oregon, we can
help!
Environmental Center programs include:
EarthSmart- offers free environmental education programs to K-12 schools, community groups and other youth organizations in Central Oregon.
From the Ground Up- encourages homeowners and businesses throughout Central Oregon to adopt sustainable lawn care and gardening practices.
The Green Spot- Central Oregon's resource for living a greener life!
The Sustainable Business Program-helps businesses, government, and community organizations find proactive ways to reduce their impact on the environment while supporting their overall effciency, effectiveness and competitive edge.
Intern for the
environment through our Internship Placement
Program. We work with our Member Group
organizations to develop internship opportunities
that provide valuable hands-on experience that really
makes a difference for our environment.
The Environmental Center recently received $5000 grant from the Pacific Power Foundation to support our youth education programs and our three-year grant from Meyer Memorial Trust continues to fund the development of new community outreach programs including more college internship opportunities, classroom service learning projects and a regional volunteer network.
